Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
Lunova works on Android phones and tablets, Android TV, Amazon Fire TV / Fire Stick, and Nvidia Shield — plus iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. Support for Samsung and LG TVs is on the way.
No — you can use Lunova's basic features for free. To unlock premium features like the dashboard and other extras, just create a free Lunova account and sign in.
We offer a 24-hour free trial 😄 so you can explore everything Lunova offers. After the trial, you can choose a paid plan — monthly or quarterly — or use a single-use Redeem code if you'd rather not commit to a subscription.
You can see the current version anytime on our updates page.

Yes — though most people should just use the app store for their device (above). If your device doesn't have an app store:
- On a phone or computer, go to lunova.app/download and download the Lunova file.
- Get the file onto your device and open it to install.
- If your device asks permission to install, allow it.
Only download Lunova from lunova.app — never from anywhere else.

- Search for Lunova Player.
- Choose Get or Download, then open it when it's ready.
Or go straight to the listing: Lunova Player on the Amazon Appstore.
Signing In
A LunaKey™ is a simple code that comes with your subscription.
- On your TV, open Lunova and choose LunaKey™.
- Type in your key — it looks like XXXX-XXXX-XXXX (the app adds the dashes for you).
- Choose Login and wait a few seconds.
You can also do this on your phone using Use Smartphone.
If your provider gave you a playlist link (sometimes called an "M3U link"):
- On your TV, open Lunova and choose M3U Playlist.
- Type in or paste the link your provider gave you.
- Choose Login.
Lunova loads your channels. You can also do this from your phone using Use Smartphone.
If your provider gave you a website address, a username, and a password:
- On your TV, open Lunova and choose Login Here.
- Enter the website address, your username, and your password. You can add a name for this playlist if you like.
- Choose Login.
Your details are kept safely on your device. You can also enter them from your phone using Use Smartphone.
The easiest way on a TV — no typing with the remote.
- On your TV, open Lunova and choose Use Smartphone.
- Your TV shows a QR code (a square barcode) and a short code.
- On your phone, point your camera at the QR code — or open lunova.app/link and type in the short code.
- Finish signing in on your phone, and your TV connects on its own and starts loading your channels.
If the code stops working (it lasts about 5 minutes), choose Use Smartphone again for a new one.
Premium & Billing
Payments are handled securely through Stripe. On a TV, you can scan a QR code to finish paying on your phone or computer.
Yes. Lunova bills you directly (through Stripe), so you skip the extra fees app stores add.
A Redeem code unlocks 30 days of premium access on the account you choose — handy if you'd rather not set up a recurring subscription. A single-use code doesn't start counting down until you redeem it. (Resellers have more options, including bulk codes — see lunova.app/resellers.)
A LunaKey™ is created the moment you claim a Redeem code, and it makes signing in effortless. Instead of remembering a website address, username, and password, you just use one simple code. It's secure — and you can share it with people you trust so they can sign in too.
Plans start at $1.99 a month, with a quarterly option too — you can start a plan here. You can also buy Redeem codes. (Resellers — see lunova.app/resellers.)

Yes — Lunova's built-in player handles most streams, but you can switch to VLC if a particular channel or movie plays better there. If VLC isn't installed, Lunova will help you set it up.
Yes — Lunova has a built-in TV guide (EPG) that updates on its own, with grid and timeline views plus sports schedules.
Customization
Yes — Lunova has weather widgets, a frosted-glass menu, moving carousels, and more. On Fire TV and other TVs, everything's set up to work smoothly with your remote.
Yes — you can lock adult content with a PIN, and hide or show channels.
Yes — you can create, edit, and delete profiles. Each one has its own picture, favorites, and watch history.
Casting
On iPhone and iPad, yes:
- Make sure your phone and your TV streaming device are on the same Wi-Fi.
- Start playing something, then tap the cast icon (a little screen with waves in the corner).
- Pick your TV — it plays on the big screen, and your phone becomes the remote.
If you're already using Lunova on a TV device (Fire TV, Android TV, or Apple TV), you don't need this — you're already on the big screen.
Troubleshooting
Make sure subtitles are turned on in the playback controls. You can also re-download them from OpenSubtitles and load them again.
That content needs a premium subscription. Scan the QR code to upgrade and unlock it.
Usually your sign-in simply expired, or there's something to check with your subscription:
- Just sign in again — that fixes it most of the time.
- If it keeps happening, check that your subscription is still active and renew it if needed.
- It can also happen if the app's data was cleared or the device was reset.
No need to worry — your channels, profiles, and watch history are saved to your account, so signing back in brings everything back.
A few easy things to try, in order:
- Check your internet. Lunova has a built-in speed test in Settings. If it's slow, move closer to your Wi-Fi router (or plug in with a cable if you can).
- Try the other player. In Settings you can switch to a different video player — some channels run smoother on one than the other.
- Clear temporary files (see the next question) and reopen the app.
- Try a different channel. If only one channel is choppy, that channel may just be busy.
Two options:
- Clear temporary files (you stay signed in): clears out leftover data that can cause slowness or buffering. Go to your device's settings → Apps → Lunova Player → Storage → Clear Cache.
- Start fresh (signs you out): in Lunova's Settings, choose Log Out & Reset. This clears everything saved on your device and restarts the app. Your account is safe, so you can sign right back in.
First, check your internet speed with Lunova's built-in speed test. If channels still won't play, it's usually something on your provider's end — reach out to them.
